El trabajo de documentación fotográfico que comienza después de más de un lustro de años pasando cerca de ella sin que me llamase la atención, como estoy seguro le habrá pasado a muchos de mis paisanos. La encina se encuentra a escasos 20m de la carretera de circunvalación de Villanueva de la Serena, pero para observarla hay que acercarse a su base y apreciar sus imponentes dimensiones. Eso fue lo que hice aquel 23 de mayo de 2016 y desde entonces para mi es un sitio mágico donde vuelvo a menudo.
En abril de 2019 presente una exposición con más de 100 fotografías de ella y su entorno, con el fin de sensibilizar a mis conciudadanos de su belleza e instar a nuestro ayuntamiento la incluya como árbol singular en el catálogo de protecciones del Plan General Municipal. Desgraciadamente esto último no se consiguió y dos años después en un temporal de viento y lluvia perdió una de sus ramas principales por su exceso de peso. Fotografía analógica
The work of photographic documentation began after more than five years of passing by it without it attracting my attention, as I am sure it has happened to many of my fellow countrymen. The oak is located just 20m from the Villanueva de la Serena ring road, but to observe it you have to get close to its base and appreciate its imposing dimensions. That was what I did on May 23, 2016 and since then for me it is a magical place where I often return.
In April 2019 I presented an exhibition with more than 100 photographs of it and its surroundings, in order to raise awareness among my fellow citizens of its beauty and to urge our city council to include it as a unique tree in the catalog of protections of the General Municipal Plan. Unfortunately, this was not achieved and two years later in a storm of wind and rain it lost one of its main branches due to its excess weight. Photography analog.
